Quickpwn works like that IIRC. Don't you have to be on the current version of firmware in order to jailbreak though.
I'm currently running Jailbroken 2.0.1, via PwnageTool. I want to go to 2.0.2, but I don't want to have to spend hours reinstalling and re-customising all my Cydia apps. AFAIK, I'd have to upgrade to 2.0.2 using iTunes (hence losing all my Jailbreaking efforts), then re-jailbreak to 2.0.2, leaving me in the same state as if i'd used PwnageTool. Hope someone can prove me wrong though. Thanks for the warning. I was considering having another crack at this because I currently have a small problem with the previous beta where app store applications cannot be installed over the air (some crap about 'cannot downlioad' – after the download is complete, mind you), but when connected to the PC, iTunes downloads them again and the icons kind of eventually appear on the phone.

You can use winpwn2.5 and just use the quickpwn feature of it to jailbreak the existing 2.0.2 firmware. What most of the comments seem to be is in regards to being able to unlock it later on down the track for different carriers.

IIRC the dev-team have already been able to hack the previous baseband but haven't released it yet. So the issue is, if you move to 02.08.01, you may not be able to unlock it later on down the track when an unlock is released. If this doesn't matter to you then you can just jailbreak it to get cydia and 3rd party apps installed.
